While we certainly utilize the best composite white filling materials available as well as state of the art ceramic and zirconia/ceramic crowns and bridges, there may be times where you prefer the durability and economy of cast gold or condensable metallic fillings.
Where we will certainly remove metallic "mercury" fillings for cosmetic reasons or decay, we hesitate to remove them for purely "health" reasons-- except in the cases of allergy. Although quite small, there is more potential for environmental and personal exposure during the removal process, than during an entire lifetime of chewing with a silver filling! Either way, we utilize suction and rubber dam material to protect you from the placement or removal of dental materials. |
